Aaron T. O'Neal

ABOUT US

Aaron received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park.  After working several years as a paralegal at a top law firm in Washington, DC, he decided to enter law school.  Aaron graduated from Howard University School of Law in Washington, DC which is the home of the late great Charles Hamilton Houston, a long time Dean of Howard law and architect of the legal strategy to end Jim Crow. Charles Hamilton Houston’s words that a “lawyer is either a social engineer or a parasite on society” serve as a pillar to Aaron’s practice as he believes black attorneys have the responsibility to use their skills to help change this unjust society for black people in their respective practice areas.

While in law school, Mr. O’Neal served as a law clerk at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia and later clerked for the Public Defender’s Office in News Orleans, LA.  In his years of practicing, Mr. O’Neal has handled hundreds of cases with diverse range of complexity all with an intense focus on bringing his client the result they deserve.

Aaron is currently representing Kunde Mwamvita (formerly known as Yashica Clemmons), the mother of Dominique Battle, one of three girls drowned in a pond by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputies subsequent an aggressive police chase.  Video surfaced of the night in which officers could hear the three girls screaming and failed to rescue them as they drowned.  We are fighting for justice Dominque’s family and we will do the same for you!

As he fights in the courtroom, he also fights for your rights in the streets.  Outside of his legal career, Mr. O’Neal is a community organizer.  He has contributed to numerous “Know Your Rights” Workshops to educate our community about their rights.  As a member of the Uhuru Movement, Aaron has lead several campaigns in the DC area to fight for the interest of black people from police murder to gentrification.  He has appeared on a number of local and national media outlets championing self determination for the black community and has written several articles of varying topics to promote the upliftment of black people.  Aaron is also co-founder of the Barry Farm Tenants and Allies Association, a tenant lead organization that has been leading the struggle against the redevelopment of the Historic Barry Farm community in Southeast Washington, DC.  When Aaron is not fighting for you, he is a health and fitness enthusiast and avid reader.
